Local knowledge across London and the M25

London is not one set of ground conditions or one kind of house. Victorian terraces on London Clay in the north and west behave differently from homes on river terrace gravels near the Thames, and a 1930s semi in the outer boroughs raises different questions from a mansion block or a mews house in the centre. Further out, the counties around the M25 bring chalk, sands and gravels, larger detached homes and Green Belt planning. Each page below explains the housing, the ground and the structural work we see most often there, along with local points on planning, basements and party walls.

Wherever you are, the process is the same: a fixed fee confirmed in writing before any work starts, inspection reports signed off by a chartered engineer (MICE), and designs and calculations checked through our three-step quality control with final sign-off by our Head of Engineering. Our typical turnaround is 10 working days. Our main business is inside the M25 and the surrounding counties. If your town is not listed, we very likely still cover it; get in touch with your postcode.
